According to Cointelegraph: In a surprising reversal, the hacker responsible for a $62.8 million Ether theft from Ethereum-based nonfungible token (NFT) game Munchables has returned all the stolen assets without demanding a ransom. The hacker was identified as one of Munchables' own developers, who agreed to return the funds after an hour-long negotiation session. Source: Munchables The exploit, which drained over 17,400 ETH from the GameFi app, was reported around 9:30 pm UTC on March 26. Munchables and blockchain investigators, including PeckShield and ZachXBT, swiftly initiated tracking of the stolen funds in a bid to intercept them, leading to the identification of the thief. In an official statement, Munchables said, "The Munchables developer has shared all private keys involved to assist in recovering the user funds." The keys held funds valued at over $62.5 million USD and 73 WETH. Pacman, the pseudonym of the creator of the Ethereum layer-2 blockchain Blast, thanked ZachXBT for his supportive role and reassured Munchables users that the developer decided to return all stolen funds without any conditions. Pacman pledged to collaborate with the Munchables team for the redistribution of the restored funds. The Munchables incident comes just four days after a hack took roughly $24,000 from four decentralized finance (DeFi) aggregator ParaSwap addresses. The protocol successfully recouped the funds and initiated refunds for its users. Source: ParaSwap
