According to Foresight News, the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has revealed its budget request for the fiscal year 2025, which includes plans to expand its enforcement and examination departments by adding over 50 new positions. Cryptocurrency is a priority, with more resources being allocated to 'strengthen the department's ability to address critical and constantly changing risks, such as those related to the resilience of key market infrastructure, cyber and information security, and crypto assets and emerging technologies.'
In addition, the SEC has requested an additional position for its Investor Education Office, which will 'primarily focus on addressing issues and complaints related to fraud involving crypto asset securities.'
